  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

For some reason sad and mellow music is a comforter to me. It's why I'm terrible at coming up with music for parties. I'm the same way. (Big surprise, huh?) I tend to make the sitting around at the end of the party playlists. And even when I try to make upbeat mixes, I'm told that they're "perfect music to listen to before going to sleep." Oh, well. :)

I'm listening to Dan Managan now and am excited to listen to your mix soon. Going to bookmark it now. I <3 mellow songs about the cold.
